Prochaska 4th

Family, Friends, Games, Food, Drinks, Fire.  Perfection.  Our 4th of July celebration was once again pure awesome.  Thank you Uncle Marty and Aunt Dena for hosting.  It was great to see everyone - special treat to see Nathan.  He was home from Arizona.  We have to find him a job in Ohio!

Of course it was a little chilly yesterday.  What the what??!!  It's July!  I can't remember a July 4th being that chilly in recent history.  Thankfully, Marty has a pool shelter with a fireplace, and he had another fire pit out on the patio area where people could gather.  So we sat around the fire in sweatshirts and visited.  The weather didn't stop the fun though.  We took the four wheelers and the gator and went fishing on the back pond.  It was a blast!  Laura chased this one bluegill about the whole time!  It kept biting and then she would jerk and reel, and it would let go.  But she got him in the end! Ellen caught a turtle...thankfully he let go.  Not sure how she would have got the hook out of his mouth.  Justin  caught about 20 bass...ok I'm exaggerating.  But he did catch about 10.  Nathan caught several bass too.  He was incognito hiding behind the brush; he said the fish could see his shadow. Lol.  And Katie caught a big one at the end and broke Nate's pole!  I caught one too, and Dad caught one or two.  But mostly Dad helped me and Laura. Oh, and I almost forgot - Emma nearly fell in at the beginning.  She had about two casts and was done after she stepped one foot off the bank.  She played with my phone the rest of the time in the gator.  It was so much fun!

Finally!

The food was delicious!  Angie made her famous flat bread tomato, basil things.  I think Jane made her famous beans.  Mom made her awesome brocolli salad and potato salad, and there were several awesome dips.  And Matt stayed up until 2am the night before and made brisket.  It was delicious!  Grandma made some decadent fruit pies - my favorite!  And there were dozens of other dishes and treats.  Of course, Emma ate only cheezy poofs... : /  (Thanks for the take-home bag, Molly!)  Hannah never stopped to eat.  She finally ate a hamburger late at night.  The kids went wild from the moment of arrival.  They took off playing hide and seek or tag or something immediately.  Laura promptly lost her flip flop.  We couldn't find it anywhere.  I'm sure Dena will find it when she mows the next time!  Thankfully, Dena had some spare flip flops that Laura could use.  The kids ran and played all day/night.  They of course played with fire for awhile too - because that's what kids do on the 4th.  They had some sparklers and jumping things and couple boxes of matches and some pop rocks and confetti shooters and some other things.  Dena gave them glow bracelets, which are always a favorite of the 4th.  They jumped on the trampoline with them.

We played a little cornhole too and got smoked.  I think we're out of practice!  And I think the kids had a few trampoline competitions.  It was a perfect day.
