Hannah's birthday was a success! She didn't want it to be over. When I asked her if she had fun on her birthday, she said, "It's not over yet!" I asked her that several times last Sunday, and that was her consistent response. Poor thing. She waited so long for it to be her birthday, and it's over that fast. I always feel that way after Christmas. I mentioned to her today that Emma's birthday was next month, and she was none too pleased that we were already talking about someone else's birthday.
We baked a cake in the morning and decorated it Rapunzel. I asked Hannah to "cheese" with it, and the below picture is what I got....in typical Hannah fashion. Then we had her playdate with her friend. She loved it. They were at our house for a little over two hours, and the girls didn't want them to leave. We sang to her and had cake. She blew her candles out half way through "Happy Birthday." Later, Papa and Grammy came over for dinner, and she opened presents. She opened presents just like at Christmastime, one right after the other. She only stopped briefly to look at them. She settled down afterwards and played with them. It was a good day. I am still amazed my little Hannah is three years old.
They have been talking about kindergarten at school this week in Laura's room. She is excited but nervous too. She knows that her friends will all be going to different schools. In fact, I'm not sure any of them will be going to her school. But I told her today that we will have playdates once in a while and that she will meet all new friends that she will love. She said, "Promise mom?" Her concern just melts my heart. I know that she will love school, but the anxiety she feels , although normal, is sad to me. I remember being nervous for kindergarten. I was a shy kid, and I was not keen on going to a place to talk to strange people all day. Laura is a social butterfly, so she will adapt just fine, but I hope she isn't nervous about it all summer! And I understand her sadness a little; she has known these friends since she was 9 weeks old. It's kind of sad that she might never see some of them again. We have her kindergarten Round Up next Friday. Maybe that will ease her nerves. Or maybe they can just stop talking about it at daycare!
Emma is a mobile machine. She crawls faster than I can walk! We have to be careful to keep our baby gates at the steps shut now, since Emma gets to the stairs quickly. She is pulling up on everything, every chance she gets. I think that she will walk before both of her sisters. Both of them starting walking around 14 months. But I think little Emma is going to beat them, partially because she wants to keep up with them so badly. She follows them around constantly, crawling as fast as she can go (which is probably why she can crawl so fast). Hannah got a Little People princess castle for her birthday, and all three of the girls love it. It plays music, and Emma will sit in front of it and just bounce to the music. She LOVES music. Anytime she hears music, she starts bouncing and clapping and swaying her little body. It's the cutest thing.

Winter 2013
We survived January. Emma was sick when I wrote my last post and has been sick on and off since then. January was rough! But we made it through though.
Hannah's birthday was this week. I can't believe she's three years old! How time flies. Since it was the middle of the week, we sang to her Tuesday morning and let her blow out candles on her muffin. We gave her a Rapunzel card that sang and lit up. She LOVED it. (She and Laura have an obsession with singing cards.) It turned into a crown, and she of course wore it to school that day. We also left icecream for her class for their afternoon snack. I think she had a fun day. This weekend, we are having a play date and having cake and presents. I think she will enjoy the weekend too. She is so incredibly awnry. She is in a class of all boys, which is our theory as to why she is still obsessed with butts and poop. Boys are gross...right? :) Her favorite shows, which she watches on iPad are Doc McStuffins and Bo on the Go, for the moment anyway. Laura still prefers My Little Pony, but she is starting to try Jem and Transformers - a blast from my past.
Laura is such a big girl these days! Sometimes it amazes me what she observes and understands. I'm not sure that I was that aware of my surroundings at that age. I'm also not sure if this is good or bad. Nevertheless, it is. We have sent in her application to kindergarten. Now we just have to wait to see if she gets accepted. If she does, she will go five days a week, full days. I think she will be fine, since she has been in daycare her whole life. She is more and more enthralled with anything art. She draws, paints, or colors constantly. She takes short breaks to play with my little ponies or barbies. But certainly the majority of her time is spent doing something art related.
Little Emma is crawling like crazy now. She crawls like a crab. She uses one foot to move her forward and drags the other one. As a result she is getting a little callous on her dragging foot. She loves being mobile now. Hannah crawls around with her, and Emma just squeals with excitement when she thinks Hannah is chasing her. She is also pulling up on everything. Matt and I are pretty much following her non-stop these days. No sitting anymore! She in uninterested in her toys, and constantly is in search of something that isn't hers or that she can't have. I call her "hunter baby." The best is when we pick her up for school in the evening. She squeals and kicks frantically when she sees us. It is the cutest thing! Then when her sisters walk in the room, she does it again. She absolutely adores her sisters. She can't wait to see them when she wakes up in the morning and in the evening when we pick them up from school.
