Vacation Day 3

A LOT of swimming. That's pretty much what we did yesterday with a nap in between.  Sounds like vacation huh?  The kids were biting at the bit to go to the beach yesterday.  We could barely hold them off til around 10am.  I needed to have coffee, breakfast and blog, in that order.  Then Matt needed to work.  So while he worked, I took the kids down to the beach that's behind the house.  It's on a sound.  The kids played in the waves, and we built our best sand castle yet!  That beach is perfect for finding creatures, like crabs, jellyfish, sand dollars, star fish, and horseshoe crabs.  So far we have just found crabs and shells, but we saw plenty of jellyfish in the water.  The other awesome part about the sound is that dolphins swim up and down it, so you can see them at about any time of day.  It's very cool.

When Matt was done working, we decided to head over to the bigger beach in the resort where the waves are more significant.  For some reason, the kids have dubbed it, "the shark beach."  Laura and Hannah really wanted to boogie board on the waves.  It really wasn't too crowded, and we laid down a towel and our bag and headed into the water.  As we were walking out, the waves were crashing into the beach.  I was holding Emma's hand, but one wave was a little too big and knocked Emma away from us a few feet.  We said, "Oops, there went Emma!"  So we had to carry her for awhile.  Laura and Hannah are always a little nervous the first time, but they warm up quickly.  They didn't end up boogie boarding but swam pretty much the whole time.

After lunch we decided it was nap time.  Emma and I took a two hour nap.  It was glorious!  I really think the US should institute nap time during the work day.

We hung out for awhile at the house, just piddling about.  Mom and Dad were getting close, so we decided to go get dinner at the Sea Shack, AAAAAleluhia!  Matt waited in line while I took the kids to the  grocery store to get some supplies for the rest of the week.  That turned out to be a good strategy, since the line was an hour long.  Our kids are not the most patient.  When we got back to the house, Mom and Dad were here, and we basked in the blissfullness of the Sea Shack.

Of course after dinner, the kids wanted to go swimming.....again.  So off we went to the pool for an evening swim.   We didn't stay too long, just a quick swim for the kids to burn off some energy.

Just another day in paradise.

Laura wanted to add some commentary.  See below.

Laura: It is fun, but I don't want to go to the reservation dinner tonight. Vacation is fun, and I saw a fish jump out of the water at the beach and lots of dolphins.

Emma has been singing a song that I think she learned at daycare.

"I wash off my baby bumblebee.  Won't my mommy be so proud of me!"

See you tomorrow :)
