What a nice reprieve in the middle of the winter from the cold weather! Yesterday the girls and I spent a large portion of the afternoon outside. The girls swung on their swing set, kicked the soccer ball around and hunted for rabbit poop. Yes, you read that right. They pretended they were protecting daddy from the rabbits as he took down Christmas lights. It was a great afternoon.
The rest of the day was not so fun. Poor little Emma is sick and miserable. She has a fever, a rash and diarrhea. Her poor little butt is raw and she screams when she pees. It's awful! If things don't improve by tomorrow, off to the doctor we will go, if nothing else to get something high powered for her butt.
Ironically we were just at the doctor this week for well visits for Laura and Emma. Laura had her 5 year check up. She is healthy as a horse - tall and skinny. She ranks in the 95th percentile in her height and 50th percentile in her weight. She got a couple of vaccinations too, which she took like a champ. I was so proud of her. She was a little nervous, but didn't cry. And afterwards told me it wasn't that bad. The next day her arm did swell and get tender, so she has had a few does of meds, but overall, it went way better than it could have. Emma did well too. She got no shots this round, which is good since she ended up sick this weekend anyway. She weighed in at 19lbs, 9oz and is 28 inches tall. She is growing too fast for mommy!
Emma is so close to crawling! She gets on her hands and knees and rocks and scoots, but just hasn't figured out the forward motion. She also can know go from her belly to a sitting position. She showed us that trick one night, and then the next morning, she was sitting up her crib. I love to watch her grow, but at the same time, I want her to stay a baby!
Some funny quotes from the girls this week:
Laura showing Matt her diary she got from her friend Maddie for Christmas. Matt's says, "It's really cool". Laura says, "I'm really happy with it." Then I say, "I think it's awesome, Laura." And Laura replies, "totally!"
Hannah eating a piece of kale this week in her dinner, I tell her, "Hannah, you need to swallow your bite." She says, "It's a weaf (leaf) Mom. I don't wike weafs."
