Let the Good Times Roll

The good times are rollin' at the Adams' household.  We had a fun filled Memorial Day weekend.  Aunt Jayne and Uncle Alan came to visit Friday night, and the girls had a great time.  Aunt Jayne bought them new bug catching tools, which is always a good thing around here!  Sunday we visited Aunt Ellen and Justin, and Justin's brother's family was there too.  His kids are about Hannah's age and Emma's age.  Hannah, who usually never wants to run or exert too much energy, raced Asher about 20 times.  She was so proud each time.  She even got a little aggressive and tried to strong arm him out of the way.  Laura led Knox around on the leash the whole night.  She told me later that she was pretending he was her dog.  :)  Just keep pretending sweetheart.  I thought that Emma would be afraid of the dogs, but not so.  She loved them.  She was after one of them the whole night.  Monday we grilled out up at my parents' house.  Again the kids had a big time!  They hunted bugs, bunnies, and snakes.  They rode on Papa's tractor and visited Dreamer.  They fed Max a bazillion treats and hauled the cat around everywhere.  By the time it was time to leave, they were filthy and tired - sign of a good weekend.

We have made a list of fun things we want to do this summer.  We started with one of them this weekend; we went to Slate Run Metro Park.  They have an 1880's historical farm there.  It was really cool.  The girls got to interact with the animals.  They of course like the draft horses, and there were brand new baby lambs there.  They weren't too interested in the pigs.  Laura said, "they stink."  But they both liked the chickens, roosters, and the cows.  They played with the old-fashioned toys in the house and outside.  It was a pretty interesting place.  Afterwards, we went to Aunt Jayne's and Uncle Alan's to visit their new puppy.  The girls were trying to "walk" him outside on his leash, and Hannah came inside to tell us, "we have a problem.  He won't walk!"  Chewy had had enough.

Well I'm just now getting back to this post....as you have read, it was written about the first weekend in June.  And here we are June 28th.  You ask, what have we been up to?  Oh, just our normal chaotic life!

It is garage sale weekend in our neighborhood this weekend.  I usually love garage sale weekend, as I have gotten many summer clothes for the girls over the years at them.  Last year, the kids had a blast garage saleing with their own money.  We ended up with a kid's drum set.  You can imaging how much mom and dad love that toy!  This is the first year that I am planning to participate with my own sale.  A couple of weekends ago, we had the great toy clean out!  It went much better than I anticipated.  Matt led it this time, and he did a much better job than I normally do at  getting the kids to put things in the sale pile.  Of course since then, the kids have pulled a few things back out of the sale pile.  But I still consider it progress.  We'll see how my sale goes.

Last weekend the girls got to spend the night up at Papa and Grammy's farm.  They absolutely love it up there.  It is one adventure after another.  They get to hunt for all kinds of creatures like frogs, snakes, baby birds, and bunnies.  They get to play with Papa's dog and cat and sometimes even ride Grammy's horse.  They go on little hikes and do projects with Grammy.  They are never ready to come home from there!

A couple of weekends before that we went to the zoo and saw the dinosaur exhibit.  We did the boat ride, and the kids LOVED it.  Matt took a video the whole time we were on it, and Hannah has watched that video about 50 times since then.  She keeps asking to go back, so we will have to make sure that we get back there again this summer.  We went to the zoo with the Moellers who have two boys that are generally Laura and Hannah's ages.  Their son, Will, took a liking to Laura, and they walked around looking at the dinosaur map together and holding hands.  Daddy was none too pleased about that!

A couple of the funny quotes from the month:

Laura - "Daddy, I've been thinkin' about your burgers."  (The morning after daddy grilled burgers for dinner.)
"Mom, you know what I don't like about taking walks? - Hills."  She is certainly my daughter!

Hannah - "Emma wakes up and turns into a Munster!"  (Morning after they were woken up by Emma yelling at us in the middle of the night.)

Emma has developed quite a personality.  She is a pistol!  When she's mad, you better get out of the way, or you are going to get bit!  Or she yells at the top of her lungs.  Generally she loves to be with her sisters, and she tries to do everything they are doing.  For example, Laura was standing at the sink brushing her teeth one morning, and Emma stood on the stool with her gum cleaner and pretended to brush her teeth.  When Laura spit in the sink, Emma pretended to do the same.  It was so cute watching her mimic her sisters.  She gets into everything!  If I turn my back for one second, she will have climbed up on the girls' art desk or be playing in the toilet.  So to say the least, she is keeping me busy!

We are excited for the 4th of July.  I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!
